Will You Be Successful? Warren Buffett Says This Factor Determines How You’ll Turn Out In Life!

Want to know a secret about people who struggle financially?

In all my discussions with those that are behind with money, certain patterns have emerged. But one pattern in particular, one common trait, stands out for its sheer irony.

What is it?

Many people who haven’t built wealth…don’t have a mentor.

Someone that they look up to.

No heroes.

No one, not even a virtual mentor, to be a “sounding board”.

It’s as if these people are saying this – “I’ve got this covered. I don’t need any help. I know everything about money that I need to know.”

Which is why it’s so ironic – These people struggle financially, but never humble themselves to look up to someone for solutions and ideas that would get them out of their conundrum.

I have a confession.

I didn’t invent anything regarding wealth building. I’ve come up with no clever ideas. No moments of creative brilliance. Nope.

So, how did I do it? How did I build wealth without inventing something? Without any lightning bolts of imagination?

By shameless copying.

By mirroring the people that I noticed had been enormously successful building wealth. By adopting their ideas, philosophies and habits.

People like Warren Buffett and Bill Gates.

You see, these guys have been my heroes for years. I saw early on that they had accomplished what I wanted to accomplish, so decades ago I made them my virtual mentors and just started modeling myself after them.

Are they perfect humans? No they are not.

But guess what? Neither am I and neither are you.

And that’s not the point. What’s the point? It’s important to find someone to model. We should all have someone we look up to and admire and strive to be like. Here’s Buffett on this…

“I was lucky to have the right heroes. Tell me who your heroes are and I’ll tell you how you’ll turn out to be. The qualities of the one you admire are the traits that you, with a little practice, can make your own, and that, if practiced, will become habit forming.”

In fact, Buffett often says that the best thing he ever did was choose the right heroes; namely, his father, investor Benjamin Graham, and his partner Charlie Munger. Let me repeat that – the best thing that one of the world’s richest men ever did was to choose the right heroes!

Heroes have the potential to energize and inspire us. We also seek wisdom from our heroes, hoping they will reveal meaning, truth and purpose to things we’re still learning about. They help us grow and improve. They elevate us intellectually.

And above all that, there’s something else that heroes do…

They help awaken the hero within all of us.

There is a hero within you waiting to be let out into the world. Everyone has one. For most, that superhero lays dormant, never to be awakened.

But not you. You’re reading this newsletter for a reason. That reason is to conquer. Conquer wealth building so that you can let your superhero free and live your purpose.

And make no mistake about it, you’ll need to do just that.

Because there’s a war raging.

You have to be the hero of your own story and save yourself from a life of mediocrity. This severe epidemic of mediocrity that has swept the globe will confine you to living a life of conformity if you do not step up and build the life of your dreams.

Success is not about being someone else but it is about learning from others.Take the best from other successful people and mold yourself into the person that you truly want to be. Find mentors, physical and virtual, that will help you and adopt the ideas, habits and philosophies that you admire about them.

As you grow and improve under their tutelage, always be asking the following question –“What would a young (insert your hero) do in this situation?”…

What would a young Warren Buffett do if deciding between blowing his entire paycheck or investing part of it?

What would a young Bill Gates do if choosing between spending time on social media or reading a book on self-improvement?

Let this year be the one that you make the step up from your current level of finances to one that is lived on a whole new level, the level of greatness. Let these words inspire within you the drive to be the person that you want to be. Find heroes. Emulate them. Then become your own hero.

Be free. Nothing else is worth it.
