Don’t Like The Financial Story You’re Currently Living? Here’s How To Write Yourself A New One!

Imagine that your life is a book.

Each decade is its own chapter.

The story unfolds with time.

As in literature, your life may be a mixture of drama, comedy, adventure, mystery, tragedy, and romance, full of plot twists, suspense, and heroes and villains.

But here’s the question – who is writing the story?

That can be a tension-filled question for some.

But the fact of the matter is that we own our stories. We are not passive victims in the hands of a capricious and temperamental writer. We write each chapter.

With every plot twist, we can choose how to respond to the situation. Push forward or retreat? Resolve or regret? Save or spend? Work or sloth? It’s up to us. We’re the author.

But many simply put their pencils down. Some do this without realizing it. They stop writing their stories. They stop sketching their dreams on the backs of napkins.

Why?

Mostly, because they are afraid. They let fear be the author. Fear of failure. Fear of leaving their comfort zone. Fear of taking a risk.

Fear sweeps them up into plots of mediocrity – they aren’t good enough, they don’t know enough and who are they to attempt financial success?

But here’s the thing…

Fear is not the boss of you unless you allow it to be. It can’t write your story unless you give it the pencil you are supposed to use.

Owning your success story can be difficult. But you know what is more difficult? Spending your life running away from your story.

Never becoming the person you were meant to be.

Living a life of regret for not even making a concerted effort to be financially free.

Chapters filled with the mundane.

A life story of financial mediocrity.

That’s not a story for you my friend.

And here’s the other good news. If you’ve been living that story, you can change the narrative today. You can make that mediocre chapter shorter even though you thought it would be a longer chapter. You can make yourself the protagonist when you were just someone who used to stand on the sidelines and let others enjoy the good life.

That’s how this authorship thing works.

As soon as you step forward, the pencil is now back in your hand.

Set a financial goal. There’s a great chapter.

Challenge yourself towards what you desire and make your mind up that you won’t stop until you get it and then grind. Grind it out. Another set of chapters.

When your mind is made up and your heart is set on a thing, you automatically take the actions to get you to where you want to be. When you have a plan, the will to accomplish your goals, there is nothing that can stop you. Even more great chapters.

And then you accomplish your goals and write that all important summary chapter of you standing on the mountain top of achievement. Pride fills you as you know you’ve authored great things in your life instead of just twisting in the wind like so many others.

If this resonates with you, I have a question for you to consider…

What is your purpose?

What have you always wanted to do? What is your lifelong dream? What makes your heart smile? That’s your purpose. There is no way you were put on this earth to be average. You were put on this earth for a reason. Realize your reason.

Next, ask yourself the following questions. After answering each question, if needed, ask yourself, “What can I do to rewrite this chapter in my life?”

What am I not taking responsibility for financially?
What success steps have I been running away from?
What have I given up on and why?

The great gift of life is our ability to make of it whatever we desire – to author our own stories. It is a power and privilege. It provides the potential to construct our own reality – a reality that can be much different than the set of cards we were born with.

When you were young, I’m sure there’s somebody that you’d thought you’d be by now. Was it someone who traveled the world? Was it someone who built schools for the poor? Was it someone who was well respected and regarded in society? Was it someone who was financially free?

Pick up that pen. Get busy writing that story.

Be free. Nothing else is worth it.
